The Medical Center Accepts Quilt Donation

GREENVILLE, MS Delta Health System-The Medical Center team members accepted a QUILTmania quilt donation on behalf of the hospital.

At the peak of the pandemic, healthcare providers around the world risked their lives, and the lives of their loved ones, working overtime in the battle against COVID-19. The QUILTmania team wanted to mobilize the international quilting community to participate in a solidarity project as a token of thanks for their hard work and dedication. Comforting Stitches was born out of the desire to give back to others. The call went out to quilting community and in turn, eighty quilt designers created blocks and over 1,000 others from around the globe stitched their blocks.

QUILTmania operates an office in Marietta, GA, where eighteen quilts, made from the CES Quilt Guild, were donated to distribute to healthcare organizations to display. Bill Senneff, President & CEO Vizient Southern States, was informed about the quilts and began his connection with the project. He donated Vizient Southern States time and resources to ensure that the eighteen quilts would be distributed to healthcare facilities in the South. The Medical Center was selected for this most generous donation.

Iris Stacker, Chief Executive Officer, said, “We are overwhelmed by this donation and the beauty within the quilt. Knowing that our quilt was made by women from all over the globe shows all of us that working together for a common cause unites us all. Our team is looking forward to showcasing the magnificent quilt for all to view.”

The quilt was blocked and made by quilters from Texas, New Hampshire, Louisiana, California, Georgia, and Mexico and will be displayed in The Medical Center. For more information, contact Kim Dowdy, Community Development Manager, at 662.725.2830 or kdowdy@deltahealthsystem.org.
